Sometimes it is better to amputate rather than repair a finger injury in a non dominant non imortant finger. Now this labourer has difficulty working with a unusable finger.
But that middle finger doesn't look good, it is floppy and sticks out and gets in the way. Also if you just amputate it, you can recover in 2 weeks and go back to work. If you try to save it, it could mean 3 months without work. If it is the dominant hand or a thumb,yes it is worth saving.

I disagree with you, because, having 5 fingers is at least better than 4 fingers, aesthetically.
