I read with interest in todays Star front page about how the government says students should come back to work. Well it is definitely not just the money which is 3 to 7x as much as you will earn here. It is also the terrible working environment and hours, the lack of promotion or training opportunities, rising costs of living and inflation. My education in Australia as a doctor costs RM 400 000, excluding living expenses. Fortunately I was on an Aussie scholarship. Now after working in the Government for 7 years, I have hardly any savings. Most of my friends who stayed overseas are now specialists with good job opportunities, earning 10 times the amount I now make. They have savings enough to come back and set up their clinics, as the government begs them to return. Why come back and work as a slave when you can stay overseas and come back as a king? No it is not just the money...
