O2 Mini Pro vs Dopod 838

It's confusing with the many brands and versions of the HTC Wizard. The 2 main ones in Malaysia are the O2 Mini Pro on the left and the Dopod 838 on the right. Both are essentially the same hardware, but with cosmetic differences in the shape of the unit and keyboard. This is a good picture taken at the PPCSG Gathering that shows the difference. Personally I like the Mini Pro with it's more rounded design compared to the squarish Dopod 838. However the Dopod is available now but the O2 Mini Pro is in Limbo with vague hints from O2 that it may arrive in December or not at all.

Dear Doc,

Interesting Blog you have here. Keep it up. I am on the verge of migrating from Psion (Symbian based brilliant product but lousy marketing hence a dying breed) to either Treo 650, O2 Mini Pro, Dopod 838 or Dopod 900. The Dopod keypads seem more comfortable. My brother swears the Palm is quicker in response. His main reason for not considering PPC is that data can only be viewed in a single line. Palm data wraps around. That alone puts him off PPC. Is it true you cannot wrap around data in PPCs?

Dear Naseem,
What do you mean wrap data in PPC? Do you mean that in word processing or in looking at a web page. But my gut instint is that whatever palm can do, ppc can do it too.
Anyway Palm is nice and simple to use, but for power users like me who want to get the most of data connectivity, PPC's run circles around Palm. I know coz I use both.

Sorry Doc,

I should have made myself clearer. The contacts eg when typing in a very long name, notes or appointments in the diary. Every line continues into hiding. In Palm the words wrap around when you type in a longish sentence or other data.
