Flamingo Bluetooth Headset PhotoReview

This week I had the chance to review the new Flamingo Bluetooth Headset. No it's not pink and it doesn't have wings, and doesn't come from Florida. It's the first time I looked at a Bluetooth headset and couldn't figure how to put it on untill I saw the manual. It certainly is different in that it has a special EarClick soft rubber earpiece that follows the inner helix of your ear.

OK this is what you get, the rod-like Flamingo and a nice charging dock, six right sided ear click soft rubber kidneys (well that's what they look like...kidneys), a manual and a nice neck strap.

The headset in itself is about 6cm long and looks nice in black. Pink would be nice too.
Some Specs :
Talk time : Up to 8 hours
Standby : 180 hours
Recharge time : 4 hours
Range : Up to 10 meters
Weight : 11g
Supports Headset and Handsfree Profiles

The bottom of the headset houses the microphone and the control button. The Flamingo has built in noise cancellation and the location of the mic gives it a better voice clarity. However don't expect too much as I found it just on par with my other headsets.

One of the worst points about this headset is that the control button is very difficult to push. It has to be pushed 90 degrees upwards to activate it. Very hard to do at first. The control button has to be pressed to initiate or end calls and to enter pairing mode.
The 2 copper plates are the charging receptacles that click into the Charging Dock.

The indicator button flashes blue when activated. It flashes red in pairing mode and if the battery is low. The speaker is in between the kidneys and is pretty loud and clear.

The EarClick is detacheble and you have to pick one size that fits your ear.

One of these should do the trick. However all the designers must be missing a left ear because you can only fit the Flamingo into your RIGHT ear ONLY!

The Flamingo actually is quite comfortable to use, but I don't find it very stable. If you knock it at an angle it tends to fall off. However it is comfortable for long periods of use and does not block out the other sounds.

The top houses the up and down volume buttons. These are easy to press.

The best thing about the Flamingo is the Charging Dock. It's nicely weighted and the Flamingo slips in and is held firmly by a small magnet. A red light indicates it is charging and a green light appears when it is fully charged. Battery life is pretty good at 3-4 days of continuous use between charges. However the dock is so nice I feel like charging it all the time!

OK this is how it looks from the front. Different...my wife calls it ugly though.

Here it is from the side, it looks like a letter P...but my wife still doesn't like it...
In a nutshell :
PROS
  • Interesting Design
  • Noise Cancellation
  • Nice Charging Dock
  • Comfortable
CONS
  • Control Button Hard to Press
  • Made by Engineers with Right ears only
  • Easily Falls out if knocked at an angle
My conclusion is that after going crazy trying to press the control button to make or receive a call, I wouldn't advise you to buy this bluetooth headset unless you have a thing for pink birds.
