Camera Settings for the Dopod 838 pro/Hermes/Tytn

The camera of the Dopod 838 pro tends to have dark pictures as the contrast is too high. Perhaps to enable it's Quickmark or namecard recognition software. Anyway here are my settings :

White balance auto - sometimes you have to change it to incandescant under yellow light
Flash light off
Effect None
Resolution 2MP
Quality normal
Metering mode Center Area
Capture Format JPEG
Grid Off
Flicker Adjustment Auto
Adjust Contrast +3
Saturation +5
Hue +5
Sharpness +7

The most important factor is enough light, I don't bother when it is too dark. A steady hand for macro mode is needed, it helps to lean your hand on something. The settings are not foolproof and sometimes you have to change them on the run, especially the metering mode and white balance.
