Are Pdas Overpriced?

Are Pdas Overpriced?

Lately new pda phones have been selling near or above the RM3000 mark. This is at least a months average pay for most middle income Malaysians. Considering that a new basic laptop can be bought for RM2500, how come the new phones are so expensive. Are they really more difficult to produce or perhaps our ringgit is quite weak. Anyway for those who are considering a pdaphone, you must ask yourself if a laptop is more useful for your needs.

I would guess the volume of extras included in these phones along with the cost of miniaturization ensures prices remain relatively high when comparing to larger devices.

I think there are cheaper alternatives like Treo 650 which is selling for 1499 ringgit for a new unit and the 2nd handd ones are selling for 900 bucks.

But for the other Window mobile based units are overpriced ... like the dopod D810 or the D900 or the 838 pro.

The one that I might consider buying is the HP 6828 which I can get for about 2000 bucks with no accessories included

But should I jump boat from Treo to HP ??? Hehe .....

in indonesia, the prices are much higher than other countries. That is quite amazing considering the weak buying power in Indonesia. You better buy the PDA in the US or Hong Kong.
