O2 Stealth Review

stealth2.JPG

Girlsgonemobile has a nice review on the O2 XDA Stealth

Conclusions

I was a big fan of the Xda Atom, so I had high hopes for O2’s next device - hopes that, unfortunately, were dashed once I started using it. O2 continues to excel with its bundling of custom software to enhance the base functionality in Windows Mobile, but the hardware really needs some work.

If it had been released a year ago, the limited tri-band GSM network connectivity would’ve been forgiveable. As it is, the cellular connection options are on par with an entry-level phone - hard to swallow given the Stealth’s decidedly non-entry level pricetag.

Build quality and design is also sadly lacking. For the price, you’d expect something that looks a little easier on the eyes. Hardware quirks on the keypad such as the spongy keys, overly-springy slide action and inability to switch to alphabet mode also significantly dampens its appeal.

A device that had a lot of promise following its predecessors, but with smartphone competition as fierce as it is, the Xda Stealth doesn’t quite earn its ninja-like label.

Pros:
Good performance
Excellent vendor-specific software preinstalled
MiniSD expansion (available in higher capacities than microSD)

Cons:
Questionable build quality and aesthetics
Spongy keypad with various quirks
Limited to tri-band network connectivity
No soft key hardware buttons
A2DP Bluetooth protocol not supported

Just bought the phone last week and it has got major issues with it's "search" feature. I activesynced all my contacts of about 800 and when i want to do a search for example "microsoft" within the phone, it returns the results in 100 seconds. My dinosaur toshiba pda gives me results in 10 secs flat. Also when one is multitasking, be prepared to wait, wait, wait and wait.I only managed to hard reset it after the 3rd try and the set now is with the service centre. I lost productivity with this "stealth"
