This will basically kill off the small GP clinics and create more pharmacists acting as pseudodocs. Here in Malaysia most of the profit a GP makes is from dispensing medicine. Consultation fees are very little. So basically to survive if this happens, consultation fees will be increased and the patient will have to make an extra trip to a pharmacist to pay for medications. Thus the spiralling cost of medical care. Also to save money, patients will op to not see a doctor for follow up and just go to the cheapest drug store to get their longterm medications. This new system works in Australia as all their pharmcies are well controlled and has a centralised computer system. Here in Malaysia it's just an excuse to make money.
