Bird Flu in Penang
The Star reports :
"The H5N1 avian flu virus strain – already detected in Kuala Lumpur and Perak this year – has now been found in northern Seberang Prai in Penang.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it was detected in samples taken from six dead ayam kampung (free-range chickens) from a flock in Kampung Permatang Bogak in Penaga."
One thing I am amazed at is that the Penang hospital is designated the Bird Flu Referral Center for Penang. In fact they should designate one of the outlying district hospitals that are more isolated so that it can be contained if it ever spreads to humans here in Penang. Just look at the big hospital at Kepala Batas which is like a white elephant with a miniscule patient lode.
In fact a good way to put these white elephants to use it to make them infectios disease centers. A good way to identify these white elephants are generally located at politician's home towns.
