Previously the nail and surrounding tissue were badly infected. 2 days after the nail was removed there is less swelling and no pus or discharge. The wound will heal in about a week and a new toenail will grow back in 6 months.

This picture was before the nail removal. The toe is swollen with pus and serous discharge from the sides.
